  • CoaXPress (CXP) is a high speed serial digital interface standard that allows fast transmission of video and still images, scalable over single or multiple coaxial cables. Available with BNC, DIN, connectors and custom configurations
  • High Data rates: up to 6.25Gbps downlink speed over a single coax cable and up to 25Gbps using four cables. Uplink speed of 20Mbps for communication and control
  • Power over Coax also available 24V up to 13W per cable. Long Cable Lengths: In excess of 100m (without any hubs, repeaters etc.)
  • Real time behavior through fixed, low latency. Precise triggering capability. Hot pluggable. Ease of integration: video, communication, control and power over a single coax cable

CoaXPress combines the elegant simplicity of coaxial cable with state of the art high speed serial data technology. The combination of these two highly desirable features - standard coaxial cable and "express" speed - provides a revolutionary leap forward in high speed image and data transmission. Current digital video interfaces such as Camera Link®, GigE Vision® and FireWire® all have limitations and do not meet the requirements of new generation imaging applications. The primary driving force behind the development of CoaXPress has been the need to overcome the various limitations - primarily cable length, speed and ease of use. CoaXPress combines the best features of each of these existing interfaces into just one interface solution: The CoaXPress interface and proposed draft standard was developed by the CoaXPress Consortium - a consortium of industrial companies consisting of Adimec, Eqcologic, Active Silicon, AVAL Data, NED and Components Express.

CoaXPress is a digital interface standard that allows the transmission of high speed data from a device, for example a camera, to a host such as a frame grabber in a PC, at a high speed of up to 6.25Gbps over a single coax cable. The device need not be a single camera - it could, for example, be an interface device that concatenates data from several cameras - since CoaXPress has the ability to carry many channels of image data and meta-data. For communication from host to device, there is a 20Mbps "uplink" that allows for control and configuration data. For even higher speeds, links may be combined to provide multiples of the single coax bandwidth. Finally there is also power provided over the cable at 24V, up to 13W per cable.
